Treating Diastasis Recti - without surgery. - SILK Laser Clinics

Have you experienced Diastasis Recti (stomach separation)? This condition refers to the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominus muscles - the large 'six pack' muscles which usually meet in the middle of your stomach. Most (if not all) women will experience some degree of ab separation by the third semester of their pregnancy. You can have a minor amount of ab separation and not even realise it however, it's generally considered Diastasis Recti if the separation is greater than 2.7cm. One study found that up to 60% of women may experience Diastasis Recti during pregnancy or postpartum. While not common, the condition can sometimes occur in newborns and men as well.
