Frei Otto was a German architect and engineer known for his contributions to the fields of architecture and structural engineering. Otto was born in 1925 in Siegmar, Germany and studied architecture and engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. He began his career as an architect and engineer in the 1950s and quickly gained a reputation for his innovative and experimental approach to design.
Otto is best known for his work in the field of lightweight and tensile structures, and he is credited with developing a range of innovative techniques and technologies for designing and building structures using minimal materials. Some of his most famous projects include the German Pavilion at the 1967 International Exposition in Montreal, the Mannheim Multihalle, and the roof of the Munich Olympic Stadium. Otto's work has been widely exhibited and recognized with numerous awards and accolades, and he has taught architecture and engineering at universities around the world. He died in 2015
